Individual career guidance sessions

What do sessions involve?

My counselling philosophy is to lead open-ended career conversations to work to support the client to clarify their future options and possibilities in a well-informed and supportive environment. At the end of all one hour session a positive written action notes are agreed with the client.

What is the initial pre-session conversation?

I think it's best before any formal session is arranged that clients have a brief phone call or video meeting of about 15 to 20 minutes to understand how I work and whether that suits your particular interests at the time - there is no commitment on either side for the screening and I'm very happy to refer to colleagues if I think they might suit your needs better.

How do sessions work?

Career counselling is conducted in sessions of an hour duration, usually online but in person in Counselling Rooms in Malvern 3143 is possible by arrangement (with an extra charge of $30 for each hour to cover room hire). Clients can expect to develop a straightforward action plan after just one session, follow up sessions and psychometric assessments are available if desired. Job application documents can be reviewed as part of the session but not usually redrafted.

  • Initial one hour session (Including pre-meeting call, online session, action notes and fair follow-up) $150 (no GST charged)

  • Follow-up sessions $120 (no GST charged)

What can we discuss?

Typical career related questions that can be discussed in a session include:

  • Career strategy for mid-career individuals;

  • Extended tertiary options counselling in Victoria, Australia and Overseas, discussing pathway-based options;

  • Advice about experience building gap years;
